In one of the LinkedIn Groups, I’m a part of; the question was asked
How do we motivate people to become active participants in improving their health?
Here’s my response
“One thing I have been doing for years to get X (X = End Users, Patients, Executives, etc.) to become more active (from a technology acceptance viewpoint) is the use of gamification.
In my experience, there must be a broad scope of a WIIFM (What’s In It for Me) factor. You would think to be healthier is a good enough WIIFM, but it seems us humans like or highly appreciates rewards.
It could be something as simple as a pair of new running shoes or a gift certificate for egg whites, or in the case of a diabetic like me, an x-month/x-year certificate to a health club—just my 2 cents.”
